Italy WEEE EPR guide: Register as a producer and report EEE volumes by weight (2026)
First, check whether you are a producer under Article 3(1)(f) of Directive 2012/19/EU. This covers manufacturers and brand owners, resellers selling under their own brand, professional importers, and distance sellers who sell directly to buyers in a Member State. Producers must register in Italy's Registro nazionale dei produttori. A producer established in another EU Member State must appoint an authorised representative established in Italy, who handles the registration, and the appointment must be by written mandate. Each producer must finance the management of waste from its own products, either individually or through a collective scheme, and must give a financial guarantee when placing a product on the market. Producers must report the quantity of EEE placed on the national market, by weight and by category, together with WEEE treatment data. Member States must set effective, proportionate and dissuasive penalties for breaches.
