EPR compliance guides

Country by country and waste stream by waste stream: who is obligated, registration, reporting deadlines, compliance schemes and penalties. Every guide is built from official legal texts and reviewed by our team before publication. All guides are examples of analyses produced by EPR Specialist: for questions about your own products and obligations, ask the EPR Specialist assistant directly.

United Kingdom packaging EPR guide: Confirm producer status, then register and report on time (2026)
First establish whether you are a producer under regulation 15(1) of the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024, and whether you are a large or small producer under regulation 24. A large or small producer must meet the registration and record-keeping duties in regulation 25(1), including registering with the appropriate agency. Report your packaging data to the appropriate agency on the schedule for your producer size. Each report must be as accurate as reasonably possible and signed by an approved person. A compliance scheme operator can carry out these duties for you. Breaches can lead to criminal offences or civil sanctions under Part 10 of the Regulations.
