The European Commission has launched a public consultation on a single standardized format for national producer registries across the EU. This initiative seeks to harmonize producer registration procedures, data reporting, and compliance documentation requirements currently fragmented across different member states. The unified registry format will apply to all Extended Producer Responsibility schemes covering packaging, batteries, electrical equipment, tyres, and other regulated waste streams. Standardization will enable central monitoring of producer obligations, fee payments, collection targets, and recycled content declarations. Member states and PROs (Producer Responsibility Organisations) will be required to align their national registries to the new EU format once finalized. The consultation invites feedback from producers, compliance schemes, environmental authorities, and industry stakeholders on the proposed data structure and technical specifications.
