According to statements made to Italy's Chamber of Deputies Environment Commission, three major artisan associations—Confartigianato, CNA, and Casartigiani—have called for compensation structures to support the implementation of a deposit return scheme (DRS) for single-use beverage packaging. The associations argue that without adequate economic support mechanisms, the DRS system can be transformed from a waste management tool into a concrete lever for territorial competitiveness, environmental innovation, and sustainable development. The request addresses concerns that small and medium-sized artisan businesses may face disproportionate compliance costs under a mandatory DRS framework without targeted financial or operational support.
