The Italian Government has definitively approved the implementation decree for Directive 2024/1203/UE on environmental criminal protection: criminal offenses increase and sanctions intensify for those compromising ecosystems, with direct implications for corporate administrative liability under Legislative Decree 231/2001. Crucial developments concern water protection: from May 10, 2026, Directive 2026/805/UE mandates monitoring of new pollutants (PFAS, pharmaceuticals, microplastics) and stricter quality standards, requiring imminent updates to the Environmental Code.
